The greenhouse gas reduction incentive program that is designed for small commercial/industrial customers is ending effective June 29,2007 due to unavailable funding. Installing an “Energy Star Heating Systems” is one of the most effective measures a homeowner can take to reduce their annual heating bill and at the same time, reduce air pollution.Energystar boilers use about 10% less energy than a standard boiler. Call the Office of Energy Resources to find out how you would qualify for a rebate. The program is supported by National Grid customers as part of the company's conservation programs that are helping Rhode Islanders save energy.
Additional IncentivesThe Office of Energy Resources received a special projects grant through the U.S. Department of Energy in 2005 totaling $99,988.The grant enabled school boards to commit to the use of high performance design principles in construction. Through a series of workshops, school districts were provided with information that prepared them as they began the renovation/construction process in their own district.The program is managed by Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnership in cooperation with the RI HPS working group of which OER is a member.
The Rhode Island Office of Energy Resources has partnered with Community College of Rhode Island to provide a full range of classes related to whole house efficiency. The training will include;heating systems, shell retrofits, air sealing, blower door diagnostics,duct sealing, and lead safe work practices.Building Performance Institute certification will be offered to all candidates proving their ability to evaluate and to optimize the performance of improvements in installation and in the operation and service of building systems.BPI Certifications also ensure that the candidate understands the interaction of specific building systems with other building systems so that it does not create conditions that are harmful to life, limb or property.Additional information will be listed as it becomes available.
